Initial Ideas – One woman, One mic

Before this module began I was talking to a lecturer about my time at university. Especially my nights out. They all seem to involve drama of some sort, (Not surprising coming from a drama student!)

It would start with the usual pre drinks at someone’s house, where everyone would get a little bit too drunk, girls would lock themselves in the bathroom with their friends for hours and beer pong became a competitive sport.

The walks to the club would usually contain singing at the top of our voices, interacting with everyone and anyone we could find. Which would usually be interrupted by the most sober member of the group telling us we weren’t going to get into the club, or the queue was too long.

As my standard night out goes, I drink I dance and I watch your mates play tonsil tennis with the creepy guy from the bar. This was true for so many of my nights out, however I was lucky if it stayed this tame.

Due to this an idea sparked. A ‘one woman – one mic’ piece, integrating and manipulating these story’s to create a bold yet simplistic performance
